フロリダ大学（以下ＦＳＵ）の人類学部ではマスター　オブ　アート（ＭＡ）、　マスター　オブ　サイエンス（ＭＳ）、および博士号（ＰｈＤ）が取得でき、人類学的アプローチから考古学を学びます。　人類学の様々な分野の教授から幅広い内容の授業を受け、Ｍａｒｉｔｉｍｅ　Ａｒｃｈａｅｏｌｏｇｙ（海洋考古学）を専攻する学生はさらに水中考古学概要、セオリーなどを教わります。　水と人類の関係がコミュニティー、テクノロジー、文化などに与える影響を船、港、港町、または水辺の遺跡から追求する方法論を主な研究内容とします。　ＦＳＵではダイビングのプログラム もあり、技術潜水氏のトレーニング（ＡＡＵＳ）も行っています。　

こちらのハンドブックにさらに詳しい情報をご覧になれます。最近の卒業生の研究はカリブ海の海賊行為がどのように船のデザインに影響を及ぼしたか、第二次大戦の船の研究、古代エジプトの葬儀と船、黒海の深海沈没船などがあります。生徒は夏休み中、教授のプロジェクトなどに参加し、経験を積みます。

The Florida State University Department of Anthropology is a four-field　department offering MA, MS and PhD degrees that emphasize the interconnectedness of an anthropological approach to the study of archaeology. Through study with departmental faculty and associated scholars, students choosing to focus on maritime archaeology take courses that introduce them to theoretical and empirical concepts in studying communities, technology, and cultural aspects of the land/water interface, including ships, harbors, ports and coastal towns, and prehistoric settlements along watercourses. FSU’s Academic Diving Program (www.adp.fsu.edu) provides opportunities for students to receive training as AAUS scientific divers once a basic diving certification is obtained.

The Graduate Handbook (http://www.anthro.fsu.edu/grad/grad.html) provides more detailed information. Recent graduates have studied pirates in the Caribbean and the effect of piracy on ship design, the remains of World War II training vessels, connections between ancient Egyptian funerary spells and ancient Egyptian boats, and deepwater shipwrecks in the Black Sea. Students accepted for maritime archaeology studies usually participate in summer research opportunities with faculty projects.
